How to fix non-moving mmd parts/rigging tut by Ekkoberry How to fix non-moving mmd parts/rigging tut by Ekkoberry
So here you have a model you've put time and effort into editing.
you open it up in MMD to test it out....and then this happens.

Part of the hair decides it doesn't want to move.

Okay so I've come across this problem quite a few times when making a model. This problem ususally occurs when you delete off a bone that something was attached to- in my case here, the hair had pigtails with bones in 'em. And becasue I deleted the bones off, this happened.

Feel free to ask questions! but before you do, please read this tutorial first: [link]
this also helps explaing the little * thingy I put in near the end. that slider circled can change how attached the vertices are to the bone.
it's like percentages- 100/bright red is stuck completely, while 50/purple is only half stuck on.

Blue is not stuck on at all.

Omg please excuse my handwriting XDD

EDIT: I'm all for helping people, but this is a TUTORIAL. Not somewhere to post 'pls fix my model for me.' I can't handle all of these requests :iconlazycryplz:

I don't mind taking a look at people's models, but if you're asking me to do what is shown in the tutorial, then what's the point of even having this up here? try a few times more before asking me, please.

I currently use PMX editor 0.2.2.2 (in japanese) but there's probably a later version out rn, I haven't downloaded anything mmd related since like mid 2014 : B

Do you have a tutorial on bone making for hair? Hehe, I am having this problem, but it's because I deleted a needed bone and, well, need to remake it.

I've done everything you said and it's still persisting as a problem. Could you please offer some guidance?
I think the main issue here is whenever I hold down shift to make the things red, it doesn't do anything. But if I don't hold down shift than the red bits show up fine. But everything was already at 100 and it's still doing this.

pretty sure it'll be to do with bone connections then- check  the first hair bones and see if the parent bone is the head ;a;

not 100% sure tho

I don't think it is. :( I'll see what I can do, trying to get in touch with my MMD expert friend.

This is pretty much the closest tutorial to what I think I need to do, I'm trying to fix the glasses on a model which seem to be attached wrong (even though they're on his face, they seem to be attached to the center bone and nothing else so they only move with that and kinda float around separate from him if he's moving) What I want to do is unattach it from there and reattach it to the right place. Not sure if that'll work (if not do you know what I need to do?) but I haven't found anything that says how to unattach something.

ovo did you color it in completely blue? if that's the case, then that's why. It has to be completely red on the bone you've selected.
I know that probably doesn't make a lick of sense, but ye.

This did not work even a little bit for me. When I click Go all of the verticles turn black and it's already on 100. I have the exact same problem only the whole hair stays where it loads except for a little part on the front that stretches. And I'm makig this model for request. Please help me!

Question - what if you want to fix legs with IK bones.  This tutorial helped me a number of times with hair, clothes and arms, but IK bones with legs and feet is the only thing I don't understand.  ._.

I've seen your description edit, but I'm not asking you to fix my model and am only looking for general advice as of now... So...

I have this model whose hair looks fine, but when opened in MMD, the bangs fidget (when physics are not on). Would you know if it would have something to do with the rigging? I already checked the existing physics and the weighting, but I think those are fine. (They might not be, but I tried editing everything and I just made it worse, so I'm trying to just use the bangs as they are....)

If you have any info, thanks. ; u ;

fidget as in move? like twitch? that sounds like a physic issue, but if the physics are off, I'm not quite sure ;x;

Yeah, twitches.

And I read that the physics have to cover the whole area that you want to move, and I tried that, but it didn't work. XD
Thanks for trying to help me though. :D

And it's not only this certain model, even the models that pmd editor came with and clothes/hair have the same problem .__.
I thought it has something to do with bones but I'm not sure anymoreWaaaah! *dies*

No. I meant when I look at the dots for weighting. They're black and shade to red. None are BLUE.

ahhh ok. make sure to select a bone to weight to- If you don't do that, you'll be weighting 100% ( the red) to nothing and I\'m petty sure that can crash the model ;a;/

yeye step 4.

was it the entire model that needed re-rigging? this tutorial is for the minor issues, where there are only a few unrigged vertices ;x;

www.deviantart.com/art/Wing-s-… <<I'd see something like this for rigging an entire model

No. Just his lower half. The legs won't stick to the bones and now the static physics are screwed up.

if the leg vertices are rigged to the leg bones, it shouldn't mess up like that ;x; I'm sorry, I don't know what to suggest;;

sounds like the head bone isn't connected to the rest of the body ;a;

check the parent/child connection between the head and neck bones
